Magical experience at a charming retreat

Our stay was absolutely delightful! The atmosphere felt enchanting with beautiful grounds and an inviting breakfast room featuring a cozy wood-fired oven. The meals were fresh and creatively served, making dining a highlight. On top of that, the staff went above and beyond, especially Michelle, who helped us book an unforgettable cooking class. I did wish the dinner service was a bit faster.

My stay at this charming hotel felt like a dream as it provided a tranquil escape paired with easy access to the historic wonders of sienna, just a short bus ride away, where you can visit the stunning duomo and explore the vibrant piazza del campo, both offering a taste of the city's rich history. the staff were incredible, especially in organizing experiences to make the most of my weekend wanderings.

Staying at Certosa di Maggiano was quite special. The décor throughout the hotel felt like stepping back in time, with lovely artwork and luxurious touches. Our Deluxe Room had breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and a cozy sitting area that made mornings feel magical. Breakfast on the veranda offered fresh, farm-to-table options—those cappuccinos were incredible! The pool area was a highlight, perfect for relaxing afternoons with beautiful outdoor beds. We appreciated the attention to detail, like the romantic lighting in the evenings. the walk to Siena was a 20-30 minute trek along winding roads, which could be challenging for some. We opted for taxis after the first day, making it easier to explore the town. Dining could be a bit slow at times. waiting a bit longer for our meals felt frustrating, especially with kids. it felt like a luxurious retreat, but better communication about dining times could enhance the experience.

Housekeeping fell short throughout the stay. basics like floor cleaning and replenishing items like milk for coffee were overlooked. Dining options had their drawbacks, with the first evening’s supper disappointing in both food quality and service speed, while a cocktail created by a staff member lacked finesse. the toilet seat height was awkward, and there were noticed issues with the shower drain emitting unpleasant odors.

It was just a commendable fit for overnight stay in Siena with good value for price. The staff really helped us plan our day trips around Tuscany, which was great. Best to use taxis for getting to the city center as it's a bit far to walk.

the certosa is a hidden gem with stunning buildings set against the beautiful tuscan countryside. the food was unforgettable, especially the parmigiana melanzana! The staff was incredibly helpful. i forgot my ipad, and they even sent it back to me in switzerland. the massages by valentina and marco were also a delightful treat.
